The Grille is located in The Morrison House, surrounded by the historic neighborhood of Old Town Alexandria. Both hotel guests and locals savor the elegance and sophistication in this decidedly American restaurant.

The Grille has been a traditional haunt of residents and visitors to Alexandria's quaint Old Town neighborhood. This historic dining spot has entered a new era, with dining rooms and a bar redesigned with furnishings that maintain the restaurant's historic sense of place. The kitchen is led by Chef Dennis Marron (pdf), whose menu features traditional yet approachable fine American cuisine. Chef Marron's dishes are prepared with an emphasis on fish, meat and produce from small local farms, markets and artisans. An extensive wine list offers vintages to complete the experience.

Cushy furniture in shades of warm burgundy and maroon invites guests to relax in comfort in the newly renovated Grille. The brocade textures, period chandeliers, warm woods and early American moldings and accents are reflections of an earlier, simpler time. The 40 seat restaurant also features a separate piano bar where friends and neighbors are invited to create their own music—sharing a sing-along or tickling the ivories themselves.

Join us for drinks before dinner in the Parlor, after which you'll be seated in one of our three comfortable dining rooms. Warm, knowledgeable service combines with a menu of fish, free-range fowl, the finest meats and perfect produce for a memorable evening. Our Cellar Master completes the experience by assisting you with selections from our extensive wine list.

On Thursday nights, enjoy our classic piano bar with live music starting at 8pm, with optional singing around 9pm. And for parties of ten or more, The Grille and Morrison House offer a prix fixe menu with hors d'oeuvres and wine pairings in a beautiful private setting.

Created by Executive Chef Dennis Marron, banquet menus at The Grille at The Morrison House feature French American fine dining with dishes made using the freshest of ingredients, sourced from nearby Virginia farms, markets and artisans.

The charming Colonial décor is the perfect backdrop for any occasion from an intimate get-together to a larger celebration. The Grille's thoughtful service and amenities, striking entrance courtyard, and beautiful dining and reception rooms make this a unique venue for any event.

From showers to rehearsal dinners, intimate weddings to corporate retreats, the incomparable catering and service from the award-winning Grille make every event exceptional.

The Grille can host between 60 and 90 guests for a reception and 45 for a sit-down event. The charming Parlor and Library host intimate ceremonies or cocktail receptions for up to 50 guests with exclusive private dining in an elegant setting for 10-74 in our Salon, Louis XVI and Dining Rooms.
